reinstall means no access to partition with NFTS

hey folks

im sweating here

got XP system on c:
got data with NTFS on d:
reinstalled c: with clean XP install
Cannot access d: files and directories as "access denied"
tried to "cacls *.* /e /t /g everyone:f" in the dir but
only some files are free up???(why some and not others i
dunno)

any suggestions appreciated as i have vital data to
access on the d: drive
