I'm not sure I understand your situation clearly,
however, if your problem is that you don't have the XP
Pro installation CD ( you mention that "they stole" the
recovery cd's (?)) then I think your problem might be
easily solved. It depends on whether XP like 98 and 2000
(and Office for that matter) can be installed with ANY
product key from another identical CD. Ie, if u can
borrow a copy of XP Pro then use your own product key
during the installation. If u can't borrow one, get one
by going to an internet cafe and use Kazaa or some other
widely used file-sharing app to snag a copy of XP Pro
from another user who is online when u are. If u can use
your key with a borrowed or downloaded (and burned) copy,
then get your pc off the internet, start the install, and
install to a new partition (you might have to make one if
your hard drive was one partition only, tsk tsk lol).
You will be able to get at most files and folders on the
previous partition unless they were encrypted (in which
case you can use R-studio to instantly grab everything
that Windows won't let you get at...go to google, type in
r-studio and hit enter....a great program worth every
penny ($79) If you can't get a copy of
XP Pro, email me and we can arrange to use Kazaa at the
same time.
