Did you UPGRADE the win2k to XP or just reinstall the XP over an existing
Win2K?

Upgrading should not cause you losing your EFS files.

Which Win2K you want to export the recovery cert? It helps you nothing to
get back your files if the Win2K is not the original OS you have with the
EFS files. Differenent installation of Win2K has different recovery cert.
You said your Win2K was upgraded to XP. I would assume the useful
installation of Win2K is gone.
