I have experienced a problem with XP Pro on 2 different
systems. After installing Security Patch Q321232 for
Windows XP Pro, I completely lose the use of my
keyboard. Thus, I am not able to log on to Windows. I
get no error messages at all...just no keyboard. I
swapped out the keyboard - trying both USB and PS\2...no
help. Keyboards work fine from a command prompt or in
the bios screen, but not at the log-in screen. I have
found two articles in the Knowledge Base that I thought
may repair the problem: Q320559, which rebuilds the
system registry and Q307545, which not only replaces the
entire registry but all system files as well. Neither
fix was any help. One of the systems had no crucial data
so I re-installed XP...the keyboard works fine now.
However, I'm hesitant to re-install the other system
since it does have important data.
Ideas anyone?
