Since Window XP Professional can out, I have been try to
get Photoshop Elements to operate with a Limited User
login in Windows XP Pro. Program will work fine as long as
the user is an Administrator with full user rights. Power
user and Limited user will not open Photoshop Elements. I
get a message saying the Photoshop.exe is locked and needs
to be unlocked using windows explorer program menu. I have
not found the setting in Windows XP will not unlock the
files. I have set all of the setting in administrator
tools \ local security \ local policy \ user right
assigment and security options for both limited user and
power user to the same as Administrator and still the lock
out occurs.
I have gone to the respective drives, particitions, files
and given everyone the same permissions to use and share.
The lock out still occurs.
I have installed the program under the user name with the
login in set to administrator changed the login to limited
use and it worked fine. Switch users and the program
worked fine. When the computer was restarted with a
complete cold restart the same lock out problem occured
The only solution I have found is to format the drive
where the OS is install (C:\ particition) as Fat 32. NTFS
appears to be the problem. Photoshop Elements uses a
scratch disk to load large pictures. If this scratch disk
attempts to run on a NTFS formatted partiction under
Windows XP Pro with a limited user login the locked error
occurs. This error does not occur under Windows 2000
Pro.
Where to I find the setting in Windows XP Pro to allow me
to use NTFS with this program.
