adding global groups

I'm trying to add my domain account to the local
Administrators group on my XP Professional Computer. When
I click Add it does not let me choose from the domain
accounts, only from the local accounts. I am properly
logged onto the domain. Also, when I try to set security
on folders, I cannot add domain accounts, only local
accounts. What am I doing wrong??
