After installing some software in Windows XP Home, I went
to reboot my Toshiba laptop. When it tried to restart, it
went to the black "Windows XP loading" screen as usual, but
then I got the following error message:
"System error lsass.exe:
When trying to update a password the return status
indicates that the value provided as the current password
is not correct."
The computer then shut-down by itself, and rebooted again.
It kept doing this in an endless cycle. I tried starting
in Safe mode and Last Known Good, but got the same endless
cycle everytime.
Q316134 seems to describe the issue, with the exception of
the endless cycling. My question is: is there anyway to
boot up XP to a command prompt, or does windows have to
load first. Is there anything I can do to at least boot up
to a place where I can do something? THe endless cycle
prevents me from doing anything to try to fix the problem.
