so, and following the rest of the instructions (i.e after deletion, log
on to computer and create a new profile), will my old profile come back
or will I lose everything?
Besides..if I delete the ONLY administrator account, how am I suppose
to create another account?
Can you please tell me what is going on and how do I get back into my
profile?
Do not delete anything! If you delete your old profile, it will be gone! I
don't know where you saw whatever you tried, but usually it is impossible
to restore a corrupted user profile. However, you can save the data -
documents, pictures, music, emails, favorites/bookmarks, etc.
And now you know why creating an extra administrative account is important.
You will need to enable the built-in Administrator account (disabled by
default) using a third-party rescue disk like NTpasswd.
1. Download the bootable CD .iso, burn with third-party burning software (as
an image, not as data), boot with the media you created. You may need to
change the boot order in the BIOS or get a temporary boot order menu with a
special keypress. NTpasswd will run. Follow the instructions carefully and
enable the built-in Administrator account with a blank password.

2. Now boot into Windows. You will see the newly enabled Administrator
account on the Welcome Screen. Log into it and go to Control Panel>User
Accounts and:
a. Create an administrative account to be used only for elevation and
emergency purposes in the future (like this one was!). Call it "CompAdmin"
or "Tech" or the like.
b. Create a Standard user account for your daily work. You should not run as
administrator for security reasons and this is easy to do in Vista.
3. Now log into your new Standard user account so the profile folders will
be created. Log out.
4. Log into "CompAdmin" and:
a. Start Orb>Search box>type: cmd
When cmd appears in the Results above, right-click it and choose "Run as
administrator". This will give you the command prompt. At the prompt, type:
net user administrator /active:no [enter]
Close the command prompt. This will disable the built-in Administrator
account again.
b. Using Windows Explorer, copy the data from your old corrupted user
account to the new Standard user account you made for yourself.
If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair
shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad).
