no 2008 experience here, but, can you not modify the permissions
on the "students" folder so that, by default, administrators have
full control over any folders created there?

By default administrators have full controll on the folder
students
but when a new student/new profile folder is created, the admin
doesn't
have permission to even open the folder!
thats the main problem.
