Re: limited user

Hi,

Windows Server 2003:

I need something like a guide where I can learn to work as a limited user, performing administration tasks. I think, that the runas command doesn't work everywhere.

for example:

- How can I start the scheduled tasks as a limited user (runas . .?)
- How can I write into a folder, where my user has only read-access (runas . .?)
- and so on.

Is there a guide online to learn "best practise as 'limited' administrator" ?

I've never seen any guides myself.

I run as a limited user on my Windows 2003 server. I have a set of shortcuts in a folder that are set up to run as an administrator, for example

- Computer management
- Windows Explorer
- Internet Explorer
- Command Prompt
- Registry Editor

So if I needed to access the scheduled tasks as an administrator, for example, I could just run my 'administrative' Windows Explorer and navigate to the Control Panel -> Scheduled Tasks. Same goes for accessing folders that my user account doesn't have permissions to access. If I need to restart a service, I use computer management, and so on.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
