Re: NTFS access rights

Hello Manso,

Open the advanced properties of the folder security and try to change the ownership.

Best regards

Hi,

I have an NTFS formatted USB harddrive that I've been using with my
laptop for quite some time (Windows XP). I recently bought a new
laptop (Vista) and when I plug in the hard drive I get access denied
on all folders/files. Obviously I've managed to set access rights for
files for an account on the previous laptop on the USB harddrive that
my new account/laptop isn't allowed to access.

Is there any way I can reset the ACLs or recover the files? I have the
old login information but I no longer have access to the old laptop.

Many thanks in advance!

Manso
