The CA must be running on Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition to
issue version 2 certificate templates. You must be using Standard
Edition

Brian,
One more thing. How do I get the changed template that is in the
"Certificate Templates" folder to the "Certificate Templates" folder in
the
Certificate Authority folder. I can rt. click this later Certificate
Templates folder to add a template but I don't any templates that I want
to
add. I've read many things about the certs, but I can't find this info.

Brian,
Thank you for the reply. I was using the web method because I can then
export the private keys. But as you say I get a cert for the user and
not
for the machine. Do I need to request the cert when I'm at the CA
server
and
then export it to the SBR server.

If you change the v2 template to provide the subject in
the request, you can use the Web enrollment. You must
enable the Use Local Machine store option, and provide
the subject (vpn.example.com).

Brian
