Re: Strange issue with password authentication

It almost sounds as though you may be confusing domain accounts
with machine local accounts (as defined on the XP client).
When you log in at the XP it is indicating the domain in the login box?

Also, SBS is something of a unique critter, so you may find that
asking in the SBS specific newsgroup is more helpful to your startup
efforts:

Hi There,

I'm trying to set up a 2003 Small Business Server - I'm something of a
newbie and am having a strange issue with password authentication between
the server and an XP Pro workstation. Currently I have a username set up
on the server with a blank password. Here's what's been happening:

1. If I set a username on the server to force a change of password - when
I log in on the workstation it doesn't ask me for a prompt for a new
password, even though it's set to do so on the server for my login.

2. If I change my password on the server and then try to login with this
new password it won't let me login if i use the new password on the
workstation.

I'm guessing that's its just something small i'm missing but being new at
all this I can't find what it is.

Thanks in advance for your help.

David.
