Have you searched to see if there is an imposter runas.exe located
somewhere that would be found on the search path ?

Let me get this . . .
After entry of the password, some part of the screen real estate becomes
"dead" . . . you say it is where the app would be, but how do you know
that ? Is it perhaps where the prompt dialogue was ?
And, other than that the machine seems normal when this area is "dead"?

In the last 2 weeks something has happed on all of our desktop computers
to cause "Run as" to stop working. As far as I can tell it is not a GPO
problem but I am not sure. When you right click an app like ADUC and
select "Run as" you are prompted for username and password as normal. When
you click OK the systems locks up. You can move you mouse on the desktop
except where ADUC would have opened..

If I modify the shortcut to "Run with different credentials" on the
shortcut advanced tab the app works as normal with alternate credentials.

Has anyone had an issue like this?
