It has the proper dns but I have figured out that if I turn off netbios it
fixes the problem?? Why is it trying to do any resolution when it is the
local sam.

The users are all local users on the server.
I do not understand how that clarifies the DNS in use.

Most common cause is incorrect DNS configuration.
Does the new member have ONLY the DNS servers that
support the AD (or the member's part thereof) listed in its
Tcp/Ip config ??

I am having issues with a newly installed Windows 2003 SP1 - member
server. The SID/DACL take a very long time to display when I click on
the security tab. This only happens when I give a "group" rights to the
folder. It doesn't seem to make a difference if it is a group that I
create or a built in group. Any one have any ideas on how to start
troubleshooting this?
