Blaster Worm/Unfirewalled Setup

I'm setting up a standard means of setting up a testing Windows Server 2003
server on the open internet (as opposed to behind our corporate firewall).

Questions:

1.
Assuming I leave the thing unplugged while installing the OS plus SP1, am I
safe enough to plug in and immediately get AV/firewall software pushed to
me?

2.
I was warned to install a Blaster worm patch (KB824146) before plugging into
the internet. Was that fixed in SP1 so that I don't need to apply the
blaster patch separately if installing SP1?

3.
Are there any updates (other than SP1) that I want to download for
installation/update prior to plugging the server into the net?

Thanks in Advance!
