What kind of error message do you get when you try to create a share?? I
would verify that you are indeed a local administrator. Run the command net
user username substituting your real username of course and check to see it
shows administrators as part of your local group memberships. Then verify
that file and print sharing is installed and enabled on the computer in the
properties of network connections and that the server service is started.
The installation failure could also be due to local of administrator powers
or Group Policy restrictions such as for Windows Installer or Software
Restriction Policies [less likely from your error message] . You can use the
Resultant Set of Policy mmc snapin to see what Group Policy settings are
applied to the computer and user. --- Steve
