There is no built in way to do this.
Someone posted a third party product a
few days ago (around the MS newsgroups
somewhere) that was supposed to do this.
(You can search for my name, and the word
'extension', over the last two weeks, in the
ms newsgroups and probably find it.)
It is much more difficult than it sounds, especially
since a file can have ANY extension and still
operate for more purposes.
Even an 'Exe' can be named pretty much anything
and run (start it with "start exename.ext".)
I just tried it by copying notepad to nt.x and running
it with "start nt.x".
