Remote Desktop work well and by default uses an encrypted connection. You
need to allow your firewall to allow access for port 3389 TCP to your
server. be sure to use a strong password as other internet users may find
that you have port 3389 TCP open ant try to connect to your server. If you
can restrict the source IP for port 3389 TCP or connect via a VPN
connection, particularly l2tp, you will increase the security of the
connection even more. If you connect via VPN, you use the local IP address
of the server to connect via RDP, otherwise you will need to enter the
public IP address that your ISP assigns to you. If that IP address is not
static you will need to keep track of changes of the IP address or use a
dynamic dns service. --- Steve
