FProtect is not free but it really works as well as
any of the expensive products and is very cheap,
especially if you have more than a couple of machines
to protect.
For 10 servers or workstations it is about $50 per
year, and gets cheaper as volume increases.

I stopped using NAV when they started charging
differently for the server product.
Norton AntiVirus had long disturbed me since I
have seen more machines damage (made unbootable
or unusuble, or operate erratically) by it than I had
seen virus infections.
FProt is cheap, works, and doesn't interfere with
the system obnoxiously.
