Not exactly hardware based (but neither are so-called 'hardware' firewalls
either.....) but your other option is to cobble together an old PC (any old
machine will do) and install IPCop or SmoothWall on it.

They are both free, fully featured firewalls based on a Linux kernel. Both
will provide port forwarding, while IPCop will also provide a DMZ and a
Wireless DMZ as well.
