This is the problem with all Virus Scanners. They are reactive, meaning they
don't fix virus's until they know about them. There is no way around this.
This is the nature of the beast. Typically when new virus's come out the AV
companies release an update within a day or so. All you can do is make sure
your removing the appropriate type's of emails from coming into your network
and keep your systems patched and up to date. I use a email scanner on my
Exchange server to remove the typical kind of virus files(exe, com, bad,
vbs, pif, zip, etc......). But really this is a huge problem but I don't
know what else to suggest except to stay on top of your updates and keep an
eye out for new virus's so at least you'll know what to be looking for until
your AV people can come up with a fix.
