2) It is probably doing as you have told it to do. Remote Desktop Client can
save the username and password. If you start the Remote Desktop Client,
click the Options button, is the username filled in? That is how the
username gets to the logon screen. You can verify this by trying to log on
from another workstation (but do not enter the username and password in the
RD Client).

Remote Desktop is encrypted, and secure. It can be used over the Internet.
What worries me most is that you need to open a port in the firewall and
forward to the machine. So, anybody that knows about this, can try to logon
to the console session, no matter where they are. I prefer to establish a
VPN connection first, and then use Remote Desktop. I trust that more.
