We are begninng to do random audits of our Window environment and we
are looking for a tool to assist us in these audits.
We have a standard build that we expect these servers to adhere to and
would like a utility that would allow us to plug in this information
and compare the "current" build state to the "baseline".
The items that this utility must be able to compare is the following:
- services (We have a defined set that should and should not be
running)
- security policies (ie: password, aging, lockouts, etc)
- event log settings
- base TCP/UDP ports
- patches (SPs, etc...)
We have found a few utilities that assist in most of the above, but
the hard one we are discovering is finding a tool that will compare
current services to our baseline. This is what is taking most of our
time, since it is a manual intensive task we are doing by hand
currently.
Thanks.
