Can i use .net framework for security

    Dear Sir/Madam,

          Anyboday can tell me, can I use .net framework on server for security?
    ie using .net framework I can creat security related work. Beacause last
    time I attended teched session in that session one speaker mention that we
    can take the help of .net framework we creat security like cryptography. If
    yes then please tell me briefly or suggest me from which book I can take
    reference for security.
