I encrypted my files and folders and saved them in a hard drive (regular

"access denied".
I use Windows XP Professional to encrypt the files. Any help to open these
files will be greatly appreciated.

Do you a complete backup from before you performed the restore? Was the
computer in a workgroup or a member of a domain?
If you don't have a backup and if the computer was a member of a domain
then you have permanently lost access to those encrypted files.
