This is just a short term solution I am looking for. The plan is to bring
this specific application server and connecting workstations into the
domain.
To make a long story short, there are some things that get broken due to
domain policies that are pushed down to the servers as they are added to
the
domain. Until I can finish troubleshooting those things, the workgroup
configuration is what I have to deal with.

That is one reason to move to a domain from a workgroup, the
inconvenience
of having to deal with passwords in multiple places.
