Re: Administrator can't get file ownership or change file permissions

Have you run a chkdsk on that volume ?
What is the path to the files, including name ? In specific this is
asked because things like total length of file path, reserved words
used in full file pathname, some special characters, etc. can cause
problems.

I have a Windows 2000 Server w/sp4, there are two files in a data folder of
about 1000 files that I can't access/change permissions on. I am logged
on
as administrator on the server and if I try to 'Replace owner on
subcontainers and objects' on the folder, I get permission denied on these
two files. If I try to 'Reset permissions on all child objects and enable
propagation of inheritable permissions', I get permission denied on these
two
files. If I go to the properties of either of these two files, I only get
the 'General' tab, missing 'Security' and 'Summary' tabs. How can I get
permissions to these files? I have users that need access and they can't
because they also get permission denied errors.
