Re: Access denied in system32 dir

Hello Tali,
If you have had a lot of problems with virus and trojaners the best solution is always to reinstall the OS, install Antivirus software and patch to the newest level. Then bring back your data from backup. Even if you think all is clean, theire can be to much changes that you don't see.

Okay...so I had a bunch of viruses/trojans. Seem to be all fixed.
But now, after doing a repair install of Windows, I cannot install
update kb898461. Checking the help files, its apparently supposed to
install into the system32\preinstall directory. When I went to look
at that dir after install failed, it won't open "access denied".
The log for the patch shows:
Failed To Enable SE_SHUTDOWN_PRIVILEGE
1.781: Hotfix started with following command line: -q -z -er
/ParentInfo:6a808f652cebba4c9a428874d0252406
3.297: In Function TestVolatileFlag, line 11660, RegOpenKeyEx failed
with
error 0x2
3.297: In Function TestVolatileFlag, line 11692, RegOpenKeyEx failed
with
error 0x2
Any idea what this is and how to fix?
