Hello verbal2891,
To stop Windows Defender open services.msc and set the service Windows Defender to stop and disable it. Compatible or not, just try out.

I am going to install trend micro. It protects against viruses and
spyware. Will this be compatible with defender? If not, how do I
disable defender? Also, If I use spybot and adaware(on demand) should
I first disable my real time spyware?
