Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
A college of mine has several computers in his network with Win2000
installed. A special stand alone computer is for internet access. So
if he receives/sends a file (via mail) he transfers it with a memory
stick from the internet pc to the respective workstation. Kind of
paranoid but that's another story.
So his network should be save from internet attacks. Therefore he has
never applied any updates to these Win2000 machines. His basic tasks
(Word, Excel) are just fine and he has no problems.
So the big question is: Should he update his Win2000 computers with
the latest patches (which can cause troubles - "never change a running
system") or can you imagine any other danger with that current
approach.
