Re: Remote system administration

Well, you have not stated that you have looked at what is configured
to be logged on the local machine.

It's a locally attached printer, though they have access to printers
attached
to the network as well.

Anything printed on the print server is logged. However, the only print
entries in the local logfile of the user's machine were from months ago
and
originated from a system service. As I've seen the user print to that
device
with my own eyes recently, I know that they are using it. The log,
however,
appears otherwise.

Thanks for your continued help, Mr. Abell.

So, is the user printing to a print device on a print server or
that is attached locally to their machine ?

I've recently been tasked with moitoring an end user's system remotely.
The
user cannot have knowledge that I have accessed their settings, nor
know
that
they are being monitored.

I know how to access their Computer Management snap-in through MMC
across
the network.

My remaining issue is how to set up local print logging on the user's
Windows 2000 Pro desktop remotely so that it will display in their
event
log.
Is this possible, and if so, can someone direct me to a resource on
how?

Thank you in advance.
