You need to disable simple file sharing. Go to Windows Explorer/tools/folder
options/view and uncheck the last option for use simple file sharing and of
course the file system needs to be NTFS. FYI Microsoft has a free download
called Shared Computer Toolkit that makes it much easier to lock down non
domain computers when you want to apply different GP type restrictions to
different users. --- Steve

I am looking into the XP Secutity functions on XP Prof. On a Domain
controlled environment when you right click on a file and select
properties
you can set the security functions individualy to a group or a user. But
on a
non domained XP Prof there are no options to do so. How can I change the
XP
Prof secutiry functions to act the same way as when added to a domain
controlled environment.
As Msft loves always to refer to Servers and Clients together in a domain
environment where the client then sets the secutity functions explicid,
but I
know that on a client without a server these functions are enabled but can
not be modified by the users which is what I am looking for. Thanks for
your
time.
