You can logon as a local administrator and then copy the old user profile to
the new user profile by using Control Panel/system/properties/advanced/user
profiles and you will need to make sure that you choose to give the new
profile permissions during the procedure. The link below explains

Hi, I posted query re unable to get to profile/desktop earlier. THe
problem
is that when logging on there was a message re being unable to log the
user
on. Now every time when logging on (with username and password to the
network) a new user desktop is created (windows NT) and am unable to
access
the old desktop. Is there a way to get back to the old desktop, please
expalin simply. Can someone please answer this or tell me there is no
