No.
And these are two largely separate issues -- sometimes
related as:
SPAM may (but probably doesn't) bring viruses
(ordinary and common SPAM at least)
Viruses may send email
SPAM can only be totally prevented by receiving no
mail.

Depends partly on your definition of SPAM -- some
people think of it as "anything they didn't want", others
think of it as only "unsolicited commercial email" etc.
Traditional SPAM has seldom had viruses since the
point was to ADVERTISE some product.
Recently, viruses have been used to SEND spam,
thus usurping all of the infected machines to send
the messages.
In this (newer) case, the SPAM may also include the
virus to coopt new senders.

Well, you asked if it would PREVENT all such problems
and it will not.
BUT it will cut down on many of the issues with virus
especially.

You do, and there are (semi)free ones -- they may cost a small
amount for commercial use.
Best value for Virus is FProtect (about $4 per license in any
sort of small quantity license.)
SpamBayes from SourceForge.net is FREE and works.
SpamAssassin can also be installed on your email server (or
even clients) for free.
