If a user is logged onto their computer with a logon/password that does not
exist on the server they are trying to access, then they will be prompted
for a password. If they logon with an logon/password that is in the local
users on the target server they will not be prompted for a password and get
seamless access. Mapped drives with persistent connections and XP Pro
computers with stored credentials can also alter the logon process from
normal. If a user gets the logon type failure then check the Local Security
Policy on the servers in security settings/local policies/user rights for
the access this computer from the network and deny access to this computer
from the network for proper group settings and compare the settings between
the two servers. It would also be helpful to enable auditing of logon events
on the two servers to see how users are being authenticated in the security
logs. --- Steve
