Admin Password

I have recently taken over a job from someone else and
they used to keep their computer whiched on fulltime...
now when they gave me the computer they switched it off
and now when I switch it back on it asks for the
Administrater password, which neither of us knows...

Can anyone tell me how to get around this please!
