The SMART warning is telling you that there is a hardware problem with your hard
drive and you should heed it's advice and back up your data ASAP. You message is a
bit unclear as to whether or not you can boot into safe mode. If you can then backup
your data while in safe mode. If you can't then you may need to pull your hard drive
and place it in another computer running W2K/XP Pro to try and copy your data files
including your user profile under documents and settings folder. There are adapters
that allow laptop drives to be slaved in a desktop computer. --- Steve
