Forgive me if I say that you don't sound like a 15-year PC troubleshooting
veteran. If you hate MS that much, then perhaps you are dealing with the
wrong OS.

Yes, I've seen Technet - there are ALWAYS problems with anything that you
release, because you can't predict your target environment 100%. If you
could, then, well - we would be out of jobs.

What kind of PC do you have? Our environment uses nothing but Dells, and I
must say, we've been very happy with them (and our transition from SP3 to
4).

Have you tried just running a clean OS with SP3 and then update to SP4?

What does your target PC look like software-wise?

Not to mention my network, but I know that the company I worked for
previously has also had no problems with SP4 (over 5,000 machines).

OK, so give us some examples - some websites, etc.? I've never heard of
anyone telling me not to upgrade...

What blocking software?

You asked for some way of keeping your PCs from pulling SP4, and I offered a
way of doing it (so, an actual suggestion, which you exclaimed that I
lacked).

How does it "hose" downloads? Can you explain in technical terms? Define
"hose."

Ah, and using terms as "Windoze" and "Microsucks" isn't an opinion? Fine -
so I would ask you that you should TRY to provide technical descriptions of
your problems rather than the cliche obligatory Microsoft bashing so we can
truly help you (well, with your PC anyway).

If you've worked on PCs for 15 years, I would expect that you have some
decent troubleshooting skills that can help bring some problems to light.

Might I suggest:

Event Log entries
Error messages (verbatim)
My earlier suggestion about a clean SP3 system
Other tests that you have performed

Can you give us:

Computer Manufacturer
Hardware Specs
Installed Software
History of PC (yours or a users? - - AntiVirus installed?)

> Thanks you.

Yes, Thanks you too.
