It indicates that you probably had your system disk in another computer
which allocated your system partition diferrent drive letter (ie it is no
longer C: but let's say E:).
Boot your system with Windows 98 recovery boot diskette which has fdisk
command on it.
In DOS window type
fdisk /mbr
This will reset disk signature and cause Windows to enumerate drive letters
at next boot.
