Ray,
the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 258788 does not apply to Windows XP.
Is the AD domain an "upgrade" of an NT4 domain?
Can it be that the issue is not linked ot the OS but rather to groups users
are member of? You may want to check the security tab of two users (one for
which it worked and one for which it did not) to see if you spot any
difference.
