See if you remove in in control panel/add and remove programs and then try to install
in safe mode [tap F8 repeatedly while booting to bring up alternate startup menu]. If
you can not do that try to reinstall in safe mode. If that does not work try running
sfc /scannow with install cdrom ready to use to invoke System File Checker and try
again. There is a also a newsgroup dedicated to update issues where you may want to
