Port 1025 is commonly used in W2K and ping is a ICMP tool for checking
network connectivity. Use a firewall to keep your computer secure from the
internet along with a quality virus scanner such as Norton that can scan
emails, auomatically update it's virus definitions, and schedule at least
weekly total system scans. Also keep your critical updates current at
Windows Update. You can go to http://scan.sygatetech.com/ to do a basic
self vulnerability scan. I suggest that you run a parasite remover such as
AdAware weekly also and consider hardening your Internet Explorer settings
by taking advantage of trusted Web Content Zones and setting the internet
zone to high keeping in mind that occasionaly you will come accross a new
site that may not work correctly and assuming it is a safe site that you
trust you can add it to your trusted zone or temporarily reduce internet
zone settings to no lower that medium. --- Steve
