THis happens when the user account does not have privilege to shutdown the
machine ("Shut down the system" under User Rights Assignment in the local
security policy). This might happen when a group policy is in effect which
defines who should and who should not posess this privilege.

I administer a windows 2000 server which, for some reason, no longer displays the restart or shutdown options when I attempt to restart the machine. This even occurs when I am at the console logged on as the machine local administrator. Why is this happening? Is there a way to restore the normal behavior. Bill
