Try hitting F8 during boot up and first try last known good configuration. If that
does not help try safe mode. If still problems try a repair install booting from
install cdrom. It probably would not let you format because it does not recognize the
ntfs file system. At worst you could boot from install cd and reinstall. If you
reinstall into existing folder and do not format, your data should be safe but you
will have to reapply applications on top of themselves, install service pack, and
update critical updates again. --- Steve
