Ok, so I think I didn't heed a warning that said Windows
2000 could be affected by uninstalling some security
patches that I had installed the week previously.
Here's the history: The Windows Updater said that there
were some security patches that should be installed.
Since someone had me on there list from one of the recent
viruses, I decided to stay updated in terms of security
patches. However after a week of having on again off
again internet and VPN capabilities I decided to
uninstall. When uninstalling the updates I believe they
did mention this could affect Windows 2000. But I took
that warning as seriously as shut down all other programs
before installing. I installed them on Friday Sept 5th.
One of them was KB822831.
So when I finished removing them and tried to reboot, I
get stuck in this loop. My laptop looks like it is doing
ok- I get to where it is about to restore network
connections and ask for a login, but then it quits and
goes to a blue screen. The message says
Stop c000021a Fatal System Error
The Windows Logon process system process terminated
unexpectedly with an error of (3 sets of zeros). The
system has been shut down.
I've tried rebooting with a Win 2000 Cd and it didn't find
it, I've tried 3 types of Safe Mode, I've tried booting
from the CD device (with the CD in there). I've tried last
known good configuration, but none of these work.
Any advice, anyone? I am trying to make a emergency
repair disk, but I'm not sure if that will work either.
