Run net -a on your computer. Is epmap listening? If so you are vulnerable. If you are
not on a network and have a properly configured firewall, then your vulnerability
goes way down. I can understand anyone being apprehensive about installing patches
immediately, with reported problems by users. Each user has to asses their own
situation. It is always best practice to backup your computer in case something goes
wrong with any software installation. W2K gives users the ability to back up the
System State which allows you to restore computer operating system to previous state
before a change. Another great option is Ghost. I purchased Norton Systemworks 2003
Professional for like $24 at Newegg. The version of Ghost on it is fantastic and easy
for a novice user to make a TOTAL backup image of their computer or partition while
still in Windows. You can even burn your image to a cdrom or dvd and it will also
install Gohst.exe to make that disk bootable right into the Ghost recovery
program.--- Steve
