Recent Virus Scare

I have following two Microsoft Updates:
Security Updates for Windows 2000: 823980
Security Updates for Windows 2000: 819696

Above are awaiting to be installed and can somebody tell
me whether it is safe to install them. They were received
during the period of recent scare.
