A friend asked to check e-mail belonging to him on my
computer. My system is windows 2000 and with Microsoft
Internet Explorer. My friend has his e-mail with AOL.

He accessed AOL and read his email and when he closed I
heard my computer continue to sound as thought is was
processing information.

I have a network in my office of three computers linked by
a router "Linksys" I also have comcast fast access cable.

I noticed I could not access the internet several hours
after the firend shut down using AOL, when I decided to
use the web. I kept getting a the "page cannot be
displayed" message. I called comcast and they took me
through several steps includding command of "ipconfig/all"
and varrious ping numbers that would reply a minimun of
four times. The system shows to have two DNS numbers so if
one would be down the system should automatically choose
the second.

I noticed that my dial up to the web still operates on any
of the three computers. But, none of the three computers
can access the web via the cable.

Comcast service people over the phone state: We can ping
and get a response therefore it is in your computer, and
not our comcast cable.

The comcast person was aware that one of my office
computers has AOL and the other two has Microsoft Internet
Explorer. He made the comment that AOL regularly has
software that tries to interfer with other ip servers and
quite possible there is a problem planted in your system.

Can anyone shed light on the matter or advise of a
possible fix?
