You could try running netdiag, but my guess is you will be getting error
messages. You could try to uninstall and reinstall your network adapter -
uninstall it in device manager and reboot to let it reinstall. Another
suggestion is to run system file checker - sfc /scannow. Possibly consider a
repair installation, selecting fast repair option by booting from install cdrom
and following install prompts until it asks if you want to install or repair
existing installation. --- Steve

Hi there,

This didn't help -- no msconfig but I used another utility
to change options.

When I run ipconfig, the error message I get
says "unexpected network failure and insufficient access"
No permissions have been changed and I am an admin user.
We rechecked the tcpip settings and such for the ISP but
still unable to get internet access via cable. The modem
can send and receive commands, but no response from my
computer.

ANy other suggestions?
